Qingdao Hodias Foodstuff Participates in Drafting Two National Standards Officially Released

Lead
In an era of growing concern over food safety and quality, standards represent not only the “voice” of an industry but also the highest honour for a company’s technological strength. Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued two major national standards. We are proud to announce that Qingdao Hodias Foodstuff Stock Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Hodias”) is prominently listed among the drafting organisations for both standards. This recognition not only affirms Hodias’ years of dedicated R&D efforts but also marks a solid step forward in promoting standardised and natural development across the industry. Let us take a closer look at these two highly significant standards.
Body
1. Two Standards Set New Benchmarks for the Industry
National Standard: GB/T 8967-2025 Quality requirements for monosodium glutamate (MSG)
Effective date: January 1, 2027
This is a foundational standard for the seasoning industry. The new version replaces the 2007 edition that had been in use for many years, comprehensively updating product classification, technical requirements, and inspection rules for monosodium glutamate (MSG), salt‑added MSG, and flavoured MSG.
Key highlights: The new standard removes certain outdated indicators, optimises test methods for key physicochemical properties such as loss on drying and transmittance, and sets more precise requirements for nucleotide content in flavoured MSG.
Hodias’ contribution: As a drafting unit, Hodias brought its rigorous standards from modern fermentation and purification processes into this revision, helping the industry move towards higher purity and better quality.
National Standardisation Technical Guidance Document: GB/Z 149-2026 Guidelines for the use of natural food ingredients
Release status: Issued in 2026
Under the consumer trends of “clean labels” and “back to nature”, defining what constitutes “natural” has become a challenge for the industry. This document adopts, with modifications, the international standard ISO/TS 19657, providing China’s food industry with an authoritative basis for determining “natural” ingredients.
Key highlights: The document specifies the technical elements for natural food ingredients, requiring that raw materials be sourced from naturally occurring substances such as plants, algae, and microorganisms, and be prepared through physical, enzymatic, or microbial processes.
Hodias has long been committed to developing natural extraction technologies. During the standard‑setting process, we actively participated in technical discussions on the application of natural spices and extracts, contributing our “Hodias wisdom” to building a scientific evaluation system for natural foods.
2. Why Hodias? Because We Have Always Been “Meticulous”
Participating in the formulation of national standards is not achieved overnight; it stems from Hodias’ relentless pursuit of quality and deep technical accumulation.
Technical depth: From the cultivation of natural spices to the application of bio‑fermentation technology, Hodias possesses a strong R&D team and a comprehensive testing system (the many testing methods mentioned in reference documents are a true reflection of our daily rigour).
Industry responsibility: We understand that only when industry standards are raised can the entire sector develop healthily. Hodias is not only committed to making excellent products but also aims to drive the industry towards greater standardisation and transparency through our involvement in standard‑setting, so that consumers can enjoy greater peace of mind.
Closing
Standards are the yardstick for production and the cornerstone of consumer trust. The release of GB/T 8967-2025 and GB/Z 149-2026 marks a significant milestone in Hodias’ development journey. Looking ahead, Qingdao Hodias will continue to uphold the philosophy of “leading quality with standards and driving development through innovation”, deepening our presence in the food ingredients sector, holding ourselves to higher standards, and providing customers worldwide with more natural, safer, and more delicious food ingredient solutions.
